GHMC in plan to construct 4.1 km bridge to ease traffic
Hyderabad: The longest steel bridge in the city would connect Owaisi Junction to Nalgonda crossroads. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would construct the 4.1 km-long bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 298.49 crore under the Strategic Road Development Plan.
The corporation has already has already invited tenders for the steel bridge and it would be finalised on July 23. The four-lane steel bridge would ease traffic at Nalgonda X-Saidabad-IS Sadan-Owaisi Junction.
Taking the heavy traffic flow at Nalgonda crossroad to Saidabad stretch and several bottlenecks into consideration, the GHMC has proposed the elevated corridor as road widening on the stretch is impossible due to the presence of religious structures and graveyards.
STUP Consultants Private Limited has conducted a study and submitted a report on the estimates for the foundation, ramps, service roads, pavement works, drainage works, land acquisition, and utilities shifting. About 220 structures will have to be acquired to construct the proposed flyover.
Besides this, the corporation would also finalise tenders for five elevated corridors and grade separators on July 23.
