Chennai: Customers of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board will soon be able to pay their bills at the swipe of their smartphone. TANGEDCO is planning to launch a mobile application for receiving payments of electricity bills, Power Minister P. Thangamani said on Monday.
“We are planning to come out with a mobile application for payment of electricity bills very soon. Once the application is launched, the process of paying bills will be further simplified,” Mr Thangamani told the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
He was responding to a question from Kadayanallur MLA Abu Bakkar who told the Minister that a bill payment centre in a village has been relocated and demanded steps to reopen it.
The TNEB and TANGEDCO have been taking numerous steps to digitise the payments.
