Hyderabad Metro pillar claims one more life at Moosapet
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old was killed when the bike he was riding crashed into a Metro Rail pillar in Moosapet on Sunday midnight.
Police said Chetla Rakesh, an employee of a private firm, was returning home after watching a movie with friends. Rakesh, who was riding his friend’s bike, seemed to have lost control near Moosapet and hit the Metro median on his right. The bike dragged on for a couple of metres and then crashed into the Metro Rail Pillar No. 18/A near Moosapet Metro Rail station.
Rakesh was flung off the bike and landed on the pillar on his chest. None of the pillars on this entire stretch has reflectors, but police say the road is in good condition and there was enough lighting.
Kukatpally SI Anil Kumar said Rakesh suffered internal injuries and died before help could reach him. The police said they suspect he was speeding. The front portion of the Yamaha R15 bike was totally crushed. A case of accidental death has been registered. Police said that the autopsy report will reveal if he was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident.
Rakesh, a graduate and working for a private company in Ameerpet, took his family responsibilities seriously, said his brother-in-law Anudeep. His father is a daily wage labourer and his mother is a housewife.
