JICA team visits AIIMS project site near Madurai

The project was kick-started in January 2019 in the presence of Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi.

MADURAI: In a significant development, an eight-member team from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), Japan, along with officials from the Central government's finance department, headed by Sanjay Roy inspected the premises of AIIMS, near Madurai on Monday.

The project was kick-started in January 2019 in the presence of Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi. The Tamil Nadu government had allotted 202 acres of land for the hospital and has announced that the project will be completed in 48 months.

With the inspection by the officials almost complete, the land will soon be handed over to the Central government, it is reliably learnt.
