Hyderabad: Monitoring of entire mine cycle simplified
Hyderabad: The department of mines and geology that deals with mineral promotion and exploration has developed two more modules for ease of doing business.
The in-house IT team of the department has developed Online Mineral Dealer Transit Passes (OMDTS) and Online Temporary Permits (OTP) to make ease of doing business transparent and to facilitate entrepreneurs/ stakeholders to utilise online services without manual interference.
Online Mineral Dealer Transit Passes will facilitate mineral dealers in the state to file online applications for permits to dispatch the finished/processed mineral from the processing unit to the end user.
This will make monitoring of the entire mine cycle i.e., from mineral extraction to processing, transportation and consumption by end users, easy.
Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, principal secretary to government and commissioner of industrial promotion, said it is a step towards paperless administration.
As part of the automation process, the government accorded permission to the department to procure smart phones and tablets for automation of the functionality of the officers in field work.
The smart phones and tablets were distributed to all officers at the Directorate, at regional and district level.
The department designed the ‘field report generation templates’ for reporting field observations viz., inspections, vigilance, inquiry reports etc., from the field work itself.
The department also checks on regulation of mining activity, detecting illegal mining/transportation of minerals.
