CM Chandrasekhar Rao okays pay for 42-day state strike

The unions agreed to the conditions and held a joint press meet with the ministers to announce withdrawal of the strike.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State RTC strike called by its unions from June 11 was withdrawn on Sunday after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao approved an increase of 16 per cent in the pay of employees as interim relief.

The CM also ordered the payment of 42-day strike period dues of 'Sakala Janula Samme' during the Telangana statehood agitation to RTC staff immediately.

The unions agreed to the conditions and held a joint press meet with the ministers to announce withdrawal of the strike.

Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) leader E. Ashwathama Reddy, said, “We have decided to withdraw the strike with confidence in the CM that he will fulfil the promise made to us on giving fitment soon. We urge government to get the report from the high-level committee on RTC quickly and announce fitment as promised.”

Mr Rama Rao said, “TMU played a major role in Telangana statehood stir. The government will never forget their role and is committed to stre-ngthening of RTC and welfare of employees.”

Mr Harish Rao, who is honorary president of TMU, said, “The CM is keen on strengthening PSUs unlike in others who sold them out.”
