Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday inaugurated the V.K. Obaidullah Government School in Shivajinagar. In his address, he spoke of the importance of learning regional language and appreciated the IMA group’s initiative to promote the use of the Urdu language along with three other languages - Kannada, English and Hindi in the school.
He promoted the Karnataka Language Learning Act, 2015 and extended his support to the advancement of the same. “This school has been a dream of Roshan Baig, which has turned into a reality with the help of the IMA group. I am certain that the school will help many to achieve education. I’m happy that the institution aims to protect our culture and heritage,” said Siddaramaiah.
The VKO government school has been revamped by the I Monetary Advisory Council (IMA), the charitable wing of the IMA group. The IMA council, led by Mohammed Mansoor Khan, spent Rs 16 crore and completed the renovation within a year, which they claim is a record.
“The CM had constantly shown his support with our work in this project. Ever since his government came to power, Siddaramaiah has always shown support in the field development of education in the state of Karnataka, it is because of this that today we have Rs 2,770 crore as our budget. Not only has he provided us with money for development of the minority sectors, but shown his support through providing scholarships for the needy and promoting such education for all,” said Tanveer Sait, rimary and Secondary Education Ministry.
