Women Indian Air Force pilots gear up for event

The Defence Minister will also review the Passing out Parade and confer the 'President's Commission' on behalf of the President of India.

Hyderabad: India’s first three women fighter pilots will be commissioned by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at a graduation ceremony which will be held on June 18.

The graduation parade will be a landmark event with a total of 129 trainees from various branches, including 22 women trainees, emerging out of training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, on the outskirts of Hyderabad .

The Defence Minister will also review the Passing out Parade and confer the 'President's Commission' on behalf of the President of India.

The Reviewing Officer will also award the President's Plaque to the toppers (first in overall merit) in the Navigation and ground duty branches of the Graduating Course.

The pre-commissioning training at Air Force Academy for various branches such as Flying, Navigation, Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education
and Meteorology commences in January and July every year and culminates with the 'Combined Graduation Parade' in December and June respectively
