Amaravati: The process of shifting the HoDs' offices is being speeded up as various departments are ready to shift to new premises in Guntur and Vijayawada.
The agriculture, marketing, education, municipal administration, endowment, fire, intermediate commissionerate and Panchayatraj departments will start functioning from Guntur district.
The police, medical and health, CCLA, water resources, APSRTC and other departments will function from Vijayawada. The distance from the offices of various government departments to Velagapudi is 35 km from Guntur and 15 km from Vijayawada.
The officials are selecting accommodation with basic amenities and parking facilities. The first department to shift is the Municipal Administration department which was started last year at Gorantla on the outskirts of the Guntur city.
A few officials and staff members have been working here. Municipal administration minister P. Narayana stated that nearly 200 employees would shift to Guntur and municipal administration would be operational from there itself.
The endowment department will start working from the marriage function hall of the ancient Malleswara Swamy temple at Peda Kakani.
