BBMP staff assaulted

When the staff were removing the illegal posters, some activists assaulted them.

Bengaluru: The members of BBMP ‘Prahari’ team, who had removed unauthorised posters put up by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), were allegedly assaulted by the KRV activists on Thursday night.

It is said that the BBMP staff were informed about the unauthorised posters at Nrupatunga Road. The posters were about ‘Vishwa Kannadigara Jagruthi Samavesha’ that was organised on Friday at Palace Grounds and wishing KRV President Narayana Gowda on his birthday.

“When the staff were removing the posters, some activists assaulted them. As the staff left the spot and returned to BBMP office, the activists followed them and pelted stones at the BBMP building. The security guards, who tried to stop them, were also abused,” BBMP Assistant Engineer, Umesh, stated in his complaint. The High Grounds police are investigating the case.
