Andhra Pradesh: Jagan to launch mega penance for'preservation' of Sanatana dharma

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is holding a Chandi, Rudra, Raja Syamala and Sudarshana Sahita Sri Lakshmi Maha Yagams for “preservation” of Sanatana Dharma, “welfare” of the AP people and development of the state, here on Friday.

The Chief Minister would launch the Mega Penance yagam by taking the vow here. This is the first of its kind Mahayagam to be performed with 108 kundalas by the state government.

Deputy Chief Minister and minister for endowments Kottu Satyanarayana would, on the behalf of the state government, take the Yagam Dhaarana vow for six days at the Indira Gandhi municipal corporation stadium.

The yagam seeks to ensure the health and wealth for all the people of the state and welfare of the world.

Minister Satyanarayana said the yagam would be performed under the auspices of the Vedic pandits as also the Ghanapatis. He mentioned that the Maha Yajna will end on May 17, Wednesday.

On the first day, at 5 am, rituals like 'Vedaswasti', 'Gopuja', 'Vigneshwara', 'Vishwaksena Pooja', 'Punyahavachanam', 'Deeksha dhaarana', 'Ajasra Deeparadhana' etc., would be performed.

The Chief Minister would take the Yagam Sankalpa vow at 8.30 am, after which the Mega Penance would start.

Seers from the Sri Siddheswara Peetham, Tirupati Sri Sakthi Peetham, Srisaila Surya Simhasana Peetham, Mantralayam Sri Raghavendra Matham, Pushpagiri Maha Samsthana Peetham, TTD, and Mysore Datta Peetham would be participating in the Yagam.

On the first day, the 'Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Kalyana Mahotsavam' will be held. On May 13, there would be the 'Dwaraka Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Varla Kalyana Mahotsavam'; and on May 14, the 'Annavaram Sri Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Kalyana Mahotsavam' would be performed.

On May 15, there would be the 'Srsialam Sri Bhramaramba Mallikharjuna Swamy Varla Leela Kalyana Mahotsavam'; and on May 16, the 'Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Varla Kalyana Mahotsvam'.

On the final day, May 17, the 'Visakha Sri Sarada Peethadhipati Sri Swarupananda Saraswathi Maha Swamy' would submit the 'Purnahuti' in the presence of the Chief Minister.

Satyanarayana said thousands of people would witness the yagam and receive the prasadam.
