SRINAGAR: The BJP on Thursday caused huge embarrassment to its ally Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti by publicly rejecting the proposal of unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir during the upcoming Ramazan and of Amarnath yatra.
The Chief Minister had on Wednesday said after an all-party meeting that an all party delegation will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon to make a formal request for ceasefire. However, before such meeting could take place, the BJP said it did not agree to the unilateral truce proposal nor was there consensus on sending all-party delegation to meet Mr Modi. The ceasefire saying it would give the militants a chance to regroup, it argued.
