Jubilee Hills accident: Speed led to car crash

Police said that the duo were wearing seat belts and the air bags opened up but could not save their lives.

Hyderabad: Cops investigating the Jubilee Hills accident that claimed two lives in the wee hours of Wednesday believe that the crash occurred due to high speed.

They suspect that the vehicle could be travelling at around 140 kmph. The indicator in the speedometer reading after the accident pegged the speed at 205 kmph, but the police said that could have happened due to the crash.

Even airbags could not save duo, says police
The impact of the crash was so severe that after colliding with the pillar, the car bounced back around 5 feet before coming to a halt. More than half of the front portion of the vehicle's was completely damaged.

Police said that the duo were wearing seat belts and the air bags opened up but could not save their lives.

The road at the accident spot is curved towards the left and the Metro pillar against which the vehicle crashed is slightly difficult to notice for those coming from Jubilee Check Post towards Jubilee Hills.

Experts said since the vehicle was at high speed and heavy, its momentum was very high This is what caused a severe impact.

“The speed of the vehicle and the curve of the road could be prime reasons for the accident. Poor visibility because of the heavy rain and drowsiness could also be the reasons,” investigating officials said.

The vehicle crashed into the second pillar on the stretch, hitting the base. Due to the intensity of the crash, the base of the pillar also cracked.
