Digital nerve centre lab at RCC in Kerala soon
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has signed an MoU with Tata Trust and Tata Consultancy Services for starting a digital nerve centre laboratory at the Regional Cancer Centre here. Tata will be deploying more than 40 doctors at the nerve centre and the services received at the RCC would be free. The government plans to set up similar centres in other hospitals.
Digital nerve centre is a platform that deploys software applications to provide 'virtual enablement services' connecting the seekers of cancer care to the right health care provider.
The centre being set up on TCS campus in Technopark here will provide better cancer care in four cancer institutes in the country, including Regional Cancer Centre, Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai, Tata Medical Centre Kolkata and Adayar Cancer Institute, Chennai.
The digital centre will help in getting treatment with the help of experts. In case of a patient not turning up for treatment, either he or his relative would be contacted by the centre to understand the reason for their absence. Subsequently, the centre will fix the nearest date for consultation or follow-up. This will help in avoiding break in the treatment of cancer patients.
