Bengaluru police arrest rowdy-sheeter V Nagaraj from TN

Nagaraj was absconding since April 14 when police seized Rs 14.8 crore in demonetised notes from his house.

Bengaluru: After evading arrest for almost a month, former corporator and rowdy-sheeter V Nagaraj was held by the Bengaluru police from Arcot in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

His sons, Gandhi and Shastri, were also arrested.

Nagaraj was absconding since April 14 when police seized Rs 14.8 crore in demonetised notes from his house. A kidnap and extortion complaint was also lodged against him.

He had also released two video CDs to the media, in which he had made several serious allegations against top police officers.

A police team, led by ACP Ravikumar, gathered information about Nagaraja’s hideout and arrested him in the afternoon. Nagaraj and his sons will be brought to Bengaluru by Thursday night and will be produced before a magistrate.
