Bengaluru: ACB raids four government officials, unearths crores
Bengaluru: The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids on four government officials, including the director Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) H Nagesh. They confiscated documents of disproportionate assets worth several crores and huge amount of currency.
Based on a tip-off, the ACB sleuths raided Nagesh’s house and office in Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Mysuru.
During the raid at Nagesh’s house in National Games Village in Koramangala, the ACB team has found 2.4 kg gold and diamonds worth Rs 95 lakh, 17.8 kg silver worth Rs 6 lakh, Rs 2.25 lakh in cash and US$ 1,559, household items worth Rs 15 lakh, 33.28 litres of alcohol, worth Rs 3 lakh, and 60 watches of different brands worth Rs 20 lakh.
The sleuths also confiscated two cars, two bikes, besides four guntas of irrigation land in Anekal taluk worth Rs 21 lakh, a 30X40 site in Tavarekere in his son’s name, worth Rs 4.5 lakh, two houses built on 30X40 site in Channasandra, a house built on 30X40 site in Bommanahalli, a four-floor building in HAL third stage worth Rs 30 lakh, an acre of land in Bidadi industrial area worth Rs 1.4 crore, a four-floor building in Begur worth Rs 3.5 crore. The ACB team also seized Rs 45,000 in demonetised currency notes from Nagesh’s house.
The official also raided the house of N. Raghumurthy, Tahsildar of Ramanagar, in Vinayak Nagar, Nagarbhavi, his office in Ramnagar and a house in Chikkamagaluru, where his father resides.
During the raid the sleuths unearthed disproportionate assets, including a three-floor building built on 40X60 dimension site worth Rs 2.5 crore in Vinayak Nagar, Nagarbhavi, 185 gm gold and 4 kg silver, Rs 81,000 in cash, household item worth Rs 36 lakh, an SUV and two bikes.
Raghumurthy had 11 bank accounts in his name, his father’s and wife’s name, which had Rs 2.17 crore in total. He also had purchased a 35X60 site in Bogadi, Mysuru, in his father’s name.
In another raid the ACB sleuths searched houses of Additional Commissioner (East Zone) BBMP Dr K.C. Yatish Kumar and his office in Mayo Hall. They raided a one-floor house in Gangothri Layout first stage in Mysuru, and the house he was residing in Nagarbhavi second stage. The sleuths confiscated a four storeyed building worth Rs 1.25 core in which he was residing, 1.7 kg gold ornaments, 1.6 kg silver ornaments and '4.16 lakh in cash.
Two cars and two bikes were also confiscated.
The ACB team has also confiscated a flat worth Rs 1.5 crore in BTM second stage, a 30X40 site in Bettahalasur, two 30X40 sites in Bengaluru, two 60X40 sites in Vijayanagar and Gattadahalli in Mysuru.
In the fourth raid at Superintendent Directorate of Technical Education Ramakrishna Reddy’s house in Vinayaka Layout in Byatrayanapura, the team confiscated his house built on 30X40 site worth Rs 25 lakh, 349 gm gold ornaments, 2.71 kg silver ornaments, Rs 1.27 lakh cash, a BMW car with Rs 20 lakh in cash in it and two cars.
