Civic chief suspended for slamming Andhra Pradesh government

The municipal commissioner's viral video accuse the state government of not providing any funds or protective equipment to civic staff

Tirupati: “Four positive cases of coronavirus have been detected in Nagari today. Does anyone come forward to help? They have frozen all the accounts. The municipality didn’t receive a rupee from the government. We are doing everything we can do amidst difficulties,” says an enraged Venkata Rami Reddy, municipal commissioner of Nagari town in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, in a video he posted on his social media.

He posted a selfie-video, criticising the state government, which went viral on Friday.

The government has suspended the municipal commissioner after the video became viral.

The suspended officer, K Venkata Rami Reddy, municipal commissioner of Nagari town in Chittoor district, alleged that the government had not provided any funds or protective equipment to civic staff to deal with the Covid-19 crisis.
