The district collector of the Nilgiris should take necessary steps in this regard, Manoharan added.

Ooty: Following a report from the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) here, after judicial intervention, sent to the Coonoor Consumer Protection Association (CCPA) proved that the TNSTC in the Nilgiris has indulged in unfair trade practices, the CCPA pleaded for action against the irresponsible TNSTC officials. President of CCPA, S. Manoharan, said that the Madras High Court in its recent order had instructed the RTO in Ooty to answers questions raised by the CCPA over unfair trade practices in TNSTC buses. “In pursuance of this order, the RTO gave a reply to the CCPA, in which he gave the various routes in which excess fare in the name of ‘express fare’ was being collected from passengers. A fine was imposed by the RTO to the TNSTC in regard to the collection of excess fare, running into thousands of rupees for unfair trade practices. The RTO’s reply also made it clear that the TNSTC in the Nilgiris was not granted permission to run express category buses, Manoharan pointed out.

The fine imposed by the RTO on the TNSTC administration in the Nilgiris jurisdiction, should be collected from the concerned officials who took to unfair trade practices as they are the offenders in this issue. The district collector of the Nilgiris should take necessary steps in this regard, Manoharan added.
