Bengaluru: Congress spokesperson Kushboo Sundar has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on the admissibility of three documents in the Rafale fighter jet deal as evidence while re-examining the review petitions filed against the SC’s December 14 judgement refusing to order a probe into the procurement of 36 Rafale jets from France.
“This has vindicated our party’s stand. It has proved our ‘Chowkidar chor hai’ charge “, she said at a press conference here on Wednesday while hitting out at PM Narendra Modi.
Clearing doubts on the Congress party’s proposed Nyay scheme which envisages giving Rs 72,000 per annum to each poor family, Kushboo said the scheme has been evolved after detailed research and consultation with like-minded people and noted economists like former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and senior leaders Kapil Sibal, P Chidambaram and Anand Sharma. This scheme will benefit around 25 crore people across the country. The BJP is spreading canards that the scheme cannot be implemented as it would cost around Rs 3.5 lakh crore which is more than the country’s defence budget. “We will disprove what the BJP has been saying and implement the scheme to improve the lot of the poor”.
Terming the BJP a ‘Jumla’ party, she said the NDA government had failed to fulfill most of the promises made before coming to power in 2014. Their promise to transfer Rs 15 lakh to the bank account of every citizen had fallen flat and now Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has denied making any such promise.
This says a lot about the ‘niyat’ of the saffron party whose interests are only to serve big industrialists and not the people of the country, she said.
Taking a dig at the NDA government, she said the allocation for the defence sector is very low and army personnel are forced to buy uniforms on their own. Instead of strengthening the armed forces, PM Modi is claiming credit for the brave acts of soldiers. “We will not take credit for their brave deeds but we salute them,” she added.
