Karimnagar: Stage set for conduct of Lok Sabha elections

The polling process will begin at 7 am and will end by 5 pm, the district collector added.

Karimnagar: District election officer and district collector Sarfaraz Ahmed on Tuesday informed that all necessary arrangements have been made for the LS elections scheduled to be held on April 11. Sufficient polling staff have been deployed at all the polling stations established in Karimnagar district.

Inspecting the distribution and reception centres here at B.R. Ambedkar Government Women Polytechnic College in Karimangar, the collector said that 16,50,893 voters are present in seven Assembly segments that fall under Karimangar Parliament constituency. Out of this, 8,15,230 are males; 8,35,629 are females and 34 are transgenders.

For conducting the elections on a smooth note, around 2,181 polling stations have been established in seven Assembly segments present under Karimnagar Parliament constituency. Out of this, 273 polling stations have been identified as critical where tight security arrangements have been beefed up, collector said.

He also said that around 10,032 polling staff members were deployed for the purpose. Polling staff were provided with required polling materials, along with equipment, such as 3,009 ballot units, 2,690 control units and 2,914 VVPATs for the smooth conduct of polling process in Karimnagar Parliament segment.

The polling process will begin at 7 am and will end by 5 pm, the district collector added.

Identifying around 27,143 members as physically challenged voters, special arrangements were made at the polling stations so that they can utilise their voting rights without facing any problems. All eligible voters must utilise their voting right in the prescribed time, by visiting the nearest polling stations allotted to them, he appealed.
