Anti-incumbency will defeat Telugu Desam: BJP
VIJAYAWADA: BJP predicts inevitable defeat for the Telugu Desam in the polls scheduled to be held on Thursday.
BJP national spokesperson and MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, addressing the media here on Wednesday, termed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as a ‘corrupt king’ and said that defeat is inevitable for Naidu as the people are vexed with the corruption.
Further, he said that the 2019 elections were the last for the TD as the party would vanish from the political scene after the polls.
The BJP leader also alleged that the TD was spending heavily on luring the voters to win the elections. He faulted Mr Naidu for trying to blame the Election Commission for all his illegal deeds. “Naidu has adopted a new strategy of blaming independent institutions to cover up his corruption and illegal acts, Mr Rao said.
The BJP spokesperson said that the TD will not be left at least as the Opposition party as a majority of the party candidates would lose elections, in the anti-TD wave in the state. He said that the TD would get washed away in the anti-incumbency cyclone set to hit the state.
Further, he was apprehensive that the TD might burn vital goverment records fearing that its illegal acts might get exposed and demanded that all the files be seized as a precautionary measure. Mr Rao demanded stern action against the TD for ‘distributing money and gifts’ to the voters and threatened to launch an agitation if the EC failed to do so.
The BJP leader said that the people will teach a befitting lesson to the TD for the anti-farmer policies and for not fulfilling the promises made.
