Angry Chandrababu Naidu likens Chief Electoral Officer to post office
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday vented his anger at Chief Electoral Officer of AP Gopal Krishna Dwivedi and likened him to a ‘post office’ for blindly following the instructions of New Delhi (Election Commission).
“Do you have a conscience? You are not a post office where Delhi gives instructions and you pass it on. If you just have to blindly follow what Delhi tells you to, why is your office needed here then? Close it,”
Mr Naidu told Dwivedi angrily.
The video of Mr Naidu blasting the CEO went viral and many in the political and bureaucratic circles were taken aback by his choice of words as he took on the EC.
The CM held a dharna in front of the CEO at the Andhra Pradesh secretariat in Amaravati to protest against, what he called partisan, undemocratic and unilateral action of the EC. He submitted a letter to the CEO in which he listed out the “partisan” actions beginning with the transfer of Srikakulam district collector to the transfers of chief secretary A.C. Punetha, DG Intelligence AB Venkateswara Rao, two SPs among others.
