Hyderabad: TRS leaders are puzzled by the recent decisions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in postponing activity relating to the formation of the Federal Front, postponing the public meeting scheduled on April 27 on the occasion of TRS Formation Day, and his last-minute decision not to attend the southern finance ministers’ conference.
In Tamil Naidu, the ruling AIADMK is friendly to the BJP. But in the recent Lok Sabha budget session, AIADMK members protested against the Centre for not constituting the Cauvery water management board. TRS MPs too stalled the proceedings in the Lok Sabha on the reservations issue.
It is significant that both the ruling parties of Tamil Nadu and Telangana have been staging protests against the Central government in Parliam-ent, but have not joined other southern states in protesting against the Central government on the issue of allocation of funds to southern states.
A senior TRS leader commented that Mr Rao is keeping his options open on support at the national level until after the elections.
Mr Rao had thought of holding a huge public meeting on the occasion of TRS formation day on April 27, at which like-minded national and regional party leaders would be present and where he would announce formation of the Federal Front. He had also said that he would visit several states to discuss with political parties the formation of the Front. But the process of formation of the Front seems to have been put on the back-burner and the public meeting has been postponed to October.
