Car rams into tree, woman killed in Hyderabad

In another accident at Shameerpet, a car driver was killed after his vehicle crashed into a lorry in front.

Hyderabad: A civil engineer continuously driving his car from Hyderabad to Tirupati and back after attending a funeral dozed off for a short time away from home on the city outskirts, resulting in his wife dying after his car hit a roadside tree. He survived with injuries, as he was wearing a seat belt.

The deceased was identified as S. Suryakumari, 38, and her husband S. Manohar Naidu, 41, sustained injuries. The incident happened near UoH in the early hours of Tuesday.

In another accident at Shameerpet, a car driver was killed after his vehicle crashed into a lorry in front.

Manohar Naidu, working as a civil engineer with a private hospital in the city, along with his wife had gone to Tirupati in their car to attend a relative’s funeral. Manohar drove the vehicle on Sunday night for around eight long hours, and after the funeral, began driving back, leaving him tired.

When the vehicle was passing by the UoH gate, Manohar dozed off and woke up immediately. But by then, he had lost control over the vehicle which hit a tree. As the left portion of the vehicle hit the tree, his wife sitting besides him received severe injuries and died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Manohar is still under treatment. A case of accidental death was registered. The couple is survived by two children.

In the other incident at Shameerpet, the vehicle of B. Mallareddy, 43, of Uppal hit a lorry ahead of his on the highway. He was rushed to NIMA Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police registered a case of accidental death and handed over his body to the family after autopsy.
