Telangana: Migrant workers are back
Hyderabad: Thirteen migrant workers from Telangana, who were held captive by their employer in Saudi Arabia, landed in Hyderabad safely over the weekend after minister K T Rama Rao took up the matter of their release with Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.
Shadul Husen Shaikh, Mohammad Abdul and Kuncham Yellaiah from Kamareddy district and Asunuri Pushpanath and Mukkula Mallaiah from Jagtial district landed on Sunday, while Borragala Chandra Shekhar and Sura Ramulu from Jagtial district, Mangali Narusaiah and Vishwanath Pawar Nizamabad, Teku Raju from Adilabad, Sanghepu Komuraiah and Thota Lingam from Kamareddy and Sanegaram Balaraju from Siddipet districts landed on Monday afternoon.
The 13 men worked for Al-Hajry, a company in Saudi Arabia. They were not paid their wages for months. When they filed a case in the labour court, the company shifted them to another location and held them for two weeks without proper food. The company also demanded Rs 50,000 from each worker.
