Hyderabad: Zonal head turns deaf ear to boss
Hyderabad: Following complaints by sanitary officials during review meetings, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy on October 21, 2016, directed the zonal commissioner to shuffle the 85 Sanitation Field Assistants (SFAs) in Kukatpally twin circles.Despite the clear instructions, so far not a single SFA has been transferred.
The commissioner issued similar instructions to neighbouring circles where deputy commissioners implemented his orders, but no official has dared to shift SFAs from Kukatpally Circles 14A and 14B.
SFAs monitor sanitation works by groups and workers. They take attendance in the wee hours and patrol assigned areas to monitor works. Each SFA oversees three groups comprising workers in each.
Mr. Reddy told this newspaper that he ordered transfer of SFAs in Kukatpally twin circles but, due to some technical reasons, it was put off. He added that he would now concentrate on this. “We will focus on transfers and setting things right in the circle," he said.
Another source from the circle revealed that the transfer orders would be oral and not in writing orders. “All SFAs are outsourced employees and the GHMC may not issue transfer orders in writing to overcome technical problems in future such as claims on permanent jobs by SFAs. Officials are planning to transfer SFAs from here to Serilingampally circles 11 and 12 and Patancheru circle,” the source added.
