The 19-year-old suffered burns close to 60 percent and succumbed to his injuries.

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old boy from Hyderabad who suffered severe burns while trying to imitate reality TV show fire stunts, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital on Sunday night.

The intermediate second year student, Md. Jalaluddin, a resident of Jahanuma, was inspired by India's Got Talent, a reality TV show broadcast on Colors channel.

On April 7, he took his friends with him to a hillock and asked them to record his stunts in their mobile phone.

“He took his friends to white pahad hillock near Jahanuma in Falaknuma on April 7 evening and started performing various stunts. He blew fire from the mouth by spitting out kerosene. As part of his next stunt, he poured kerosene on his shirt and then set it ablaze. As the fire caught up, he could not take off his shirt. Few of his friends fled seeing the mishap. Few locals and rest of his friends extinguished the fire,” said ACP of Falaknuma Md. Abdul Bari.

However, by the time the fire was put off, he already had suffered burns close to 60 percent.

After his death in OGH, police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC for suspicious death.
