Suspended BJP MLAs: Telangana HC\'s verdict today

The verdict is on on a writ petition filed by the three BJP MLAs against their suspension from the Legislative Assembly

Hyderabad: Justice Shameem Akhtar of the Telangana High Court will pronounce the judgment at 2.15 pm on Friday on a writ petition filed by the three BJP MLAs against their suspension from the Legislative Assembly. The judge reserved orders on Thursday.

While hearing the petition, Justice Akhtar said he was startled by the attitude of the secretary of Legislature and the Legislative Assembly who had avoided taking the notices issued by the High Court.

The court on Wednesday had sent notices to the secretary through the court messenger seeking a response to the petition filed by the MLAs — T. Raja Singh, M. Raghunandan Rao and Etala Rajendar.

On Thursday, the court was informed by the messenger that he was not allowed to enter the premises of the Assembly and that the security staff at the entrance of had stopped him by saying that the session was in progress.

The petitioners informed the court that the police at the Assembly gate and marshals had restrained Raghunandan Rao’s personal assistant Vamshi Krishna though he showed his identity card and the court order.

During the course of the hearing, Justice Akhtar asked the Advocate-General as why the court messenger as well as the personal assistant of the MLA could not serve notices on the Assembly secretary.
