Hyderabad: Pillion thrown off flyover in accident

Amar Singh was on the pillion seat of the two-wheeler being ridden by Narendra Singh Bhandari, 22.

Hyderabad: A pillion rider was thrown off the Paradise flyover on to the road below near the Secunderabad fire station on Sunday evening and sustained severe injuries after his two-wheeler rammed into a four-wheeler.

Police identified the survivor as Amar Singh Atanal, 32, who was lucky he didn’t get run over on the SP Road as the traffic was light on Sunday.

Amar Singh was on the pillion seat of the two-wheeler being ridden by Narendra Singh Bhandari, 22. They hailed from Uttarakhand and migrated to the city in search of jobs. They were working as chefs at a restaurant. According to the police, the duo was travelling from the Secunderabad side towards Begumpet and took the flyover when the accident took place.

Ramgopalpet police sub-inspector K. Pratha Reddy said, “They rammed a four-wheeler from the rear at about 4 pm. The pillion rider was thrown off the two-wheeler and he fell down from the flyover on to the below in front of the Secunderabad fire station. Passerby immediately shifted him to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.” Narendra Singh escaped with minor injuries.

Amar Singh was stated to be in critical condition.
