Hyderabad: Following the death of two infants after administering the wrong drug  at the urban health center in Nampally last week, the Pulse Polio vaccination drive on Sunday saw a major dip in numbers.  Only  4 lakh children took the polio drops against the target of 4.8 lakh.

The highest number of children who took polio drops was recorded in Sitaphalmandi because of its proximity to the Secunderabad railway station where hundreds of passengers get the polio drops administered to their children.

The lowest number was recorded in Barkas and Uppuguda in the old city.

Because the number of  infants who took the polio drops dropped on Sunday, auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and the other staff will have to go door to door to encourage patients to give polio drops to children and assure them of safety.
