Bengaluru: After surprise raids, police nab 150 rowdies
Bengaluru: In early morning raids on the houses of rowdy sheeters in the west division, the police took over 150 rowdies into preventive custody on Sunday. The raids were conducted in the wake of a recent murder of a notorious rowdy Lakshman by his rival gang leader Raj alias Cat Raj, who was arrested on Saturday.
The raids began around 4 am on Sunday and went on till 11 am. In the seven-hour-long raids, the police seized lethal weapons from the houses of most of the rowdies. The police carried out a parade at the jurisdictional police station and warned the rowdies against committing any act in violation of the law.
A senior officer said that there were instructions from Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar to deal the rowdies with an iron hand. The police are putting in efforts to prevent crimes, he said. With rising criminal activities and gang attacks, the police are planning to conduct similar drives in all the divisions.
