Ramesh Chennithala bats for E Sreedharan, writes to CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Mr Chennithala pointed out that the Kochi Metro was completed ahead of its deadline due to Mr Sreedharan's expertise.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an open letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded that DMRC and metroman E. Sreedharan should be brought back to implement the Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Light Metro projects. By driving away Mr Sreedharan and the DMRC, the Light Metro Rail project might either get postponed indefinitely or even be abandoned, he said.

Mr Chennithala pointed out that the Kochi Metro was completed ahead of its deadline due to Mr Sreedharan's expertise. "The same expertise would have benefitted the Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode Light Metro Rail projects," he opined.

"Due to unknown reasons, the LDF government withdrew Sreedharan and DMRC from the project and is now going for a fresh tender. It should be recalled that the DPR of the Light Metro Rail projects was submitted to the LDF Government in 2017 and unfortunately they never bothered to send it across the central government," said Mr Chennithala.
