Thrissur: By not renewing the contract with DMRC for the Light Metro project, the LDF government has indirectly given marching orders to metroman E. Sreedharan, said former chief minister Oommen Chandy. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr Chandy said that during the UDF regime the government had the vision to plan for projects like Light Metro even before other states thought of taking up such projects.
“There is no justification in saying that the contract with DMRC lapsed 16 months ago. “The state government should have renewed it for conceive the project. Taking up the Kochi Metro project gave us the confidence that the state government can implement such mega projects,” he added.
