N Chandrababu Naidu indifferent towards SCS: Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

Reddy has said that despite pulling out from the Union Cabinet, Chandrababu Naidu continues to be the Convener of NDA.

Nellore: Hitting hard at the dubious stand of TD on the Special Category Status (SCS), YSR Congress President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that despite pulling out from the Union Cabinet, Chandrababu Naidu continues to be the Convener of NDA and he still does not openly support the agitation for achieving the status.

Addressing a large gathering as a part of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra at Chirala in Prakasam district on Saturday, he said, “Chandrababu Naidu is not commmitted about SCS agitation for the past four years and his stand has not changed. Though his ministers quit the cabinet, TD is not ready to extend its support for the no-trust vote which we will be moving on March 21.”

“We have also given them the option for moving the motion and said that we will support it, but they are in no position to accept that. Moreover, after pulling out from the cabinet, BJP and TD have been resorting to mutual praise and are following the you-scratch-my-back, I scratch-your-back policy,” Mr Reddy said.
“We have announced in advance that our MP’s will submit resignations on the last day of the current parliament session if there is no response for our demands and asked TD to join us so that a strong message would be sent to the Centre if all 25 MPs resign en masse. But it was not to the liking of TD, as the ruling Party has always been watering down the SCS issue.”

After coming to power, Chandrababu Naidu went about town telling that SCS is not a wonder drug and it need not be antagonised with the Centre. It was YSR Congress which has taken up the issue and kept it alive through various agitations and dharnas at multiple places and Naidu has just tried to foil them all.
“When I was on a hunger strike seeking SCS, it was foiled on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to come to our state and the Chief Minister did not utter a single word on the issue,” he said.

“What Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said now, is no different from what he said in September 2016. But, Naidu’s reaction has varied as he wanted to politicise the issue. People are vexed with his policies and lies,” Mr Reddy adds. The Naidu government has been laden with corruption and he may promise the moon with the ill-gotten wealth he has alleges Mr Reddy. He appealed to the people to use their discretion while voting. “When YSRC comes to power, we will ensure that professional courses are within the reach of the weaker sections and see to it that Right to Education will get its due share,” he concluded.
