Hyderabad: Favourite gaming character of millennials, Super Mario in his red Go-Kart has begun guiding people on Google Maps from Saturday across the world. The moustachioed plumber-turned-racer character developed by Nintendo will be a companion to commuters from March 10. Mario Day is celebrated on March 10 because of its similarity with the name. Users will have an option to replace the blue car that guides them currently on their journey by selecting the question mark which appears next to the start button.
To get started, users will need to first update their app from Google play store or an app store. Next click on the yellow ‘?’’ icon on the bottom right of the Google maps and then the user will see a prompt to enable Mario Time. Fans of the character took to social media to express their excitement using #MarioMaps. This feature will be available only for one week. However Google advised users who are sharing their excitement on social media “to make sure to avoid sharing personal details like home and workplace address.”
