Bengaluru: A riot like situation prevailed in HSR Layout on Wednesday night with traffic coming to halt after the police resorted to mild canning to disperse a crowd near HSR Layout flyover, Outer Ring Road. The situation became tense when a drunk constable, attached to HSR Layout traffic police station, took to the wheels of a seized mini truck and rammed into three vehicles in HSR Layout Sector V. Soon, a large crowd gathered and they pelted stones on the constable, identified as Mahaveer Mahesh Nerale, and assaulted him. The incident took place around 10.45 pm on Wednesday.
They even pelted stones at the patrolling vehicle and manhandled senior assistant sub-inspector traffic Eshwar Charantimath Meti. Both the traffic police personnel are have been suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered against them.
