Hyderabad: Biker rides into manhole, escapes unhurt
Hyderabad: It was a miraculous escape for a motorcyclist who fell into an open manhole under repair on the main road opposite AP Secretariat. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon but came into light only on Saturday, after a recording of the incident went viral.
Though there were two barricades warning commuters of the repairs being carried out by HMWS&SB, the biker barged in and fell into the manhole with his bike.
A passerby came to his rescue and with the help of other workers pulled him out. The biker sustained minor injuries. The youngster, had not been identified yet as no police complaint was booked.
However, the video showed that he was driving at high speed near NTR Garden and failed to apply brake in time which lead to him crashing into the barricades. The Metro Water and Sewerage board (HMWS&SB) hasbeen carrying out pipeline repair works in front of NTR Garden.
It is seen in the video that the young biker, wearing a blue T-shirt, fell headlong into the 10-ft circular pit that was dug, and his bike was hanging precariously on the edge of the pit. HMWS&SB workers used ladders and ropes and pipes to pull the man up. He was seen mud-spattered and shaken.
Meanwhile, one HMWS&SB worker suffered minor injuries.
