Teachers say Calicut University delays promotions

The protest was organised by the Association of Calicut University Teachers (ACT) and All Kerala Private College Teachers Association.

Kozhikode: Demanding immediate steps to sanction promotions and deserved placements, teachers from various colleges and departments of Calicut University staged a protest in front of the University administrative block on Wednesday. Former MLA and Senate member V. Sasikumar inaugurated the protest.

Addressing the teachers, the senate member said that while other Universities in the state had already implemented the promotions and placements of teachers, Calicut University authorities were still sitting on files. “Calicut University syndicate should stop the hostile attitude to teachers,” he added.

The teachers’ organizations warned that the protest would intensify in the coming days if the authorities did not take any action. The protest was organised by the Association of Calicut University Teachers (ACT) and All Kerala Private College Teachers Association. ACT Secretary Dr P. Sivadasan, AKPCT Vice President Dr Kushala Kumari, Syndicate members Dr Fathimathu Zuhara, K. Viswanath, SFI Campus Unit President Vaisakh were also present.
