Deworming pills: 50 children ill in Hyderabad

Nationwide, about 200 school children were taken to hospitals in Bihar, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh as they complained of uneasiness.

Hyderabad: Fifty children aged between 5 and 10 years, including seven from the city, were admitted to government hospitals after they reported of vomiting and loose motions after being administered Albandazol tablets as a part of National Deworming Day.

Mr Srinivas Rao, National Health Mission officer for Telangana, said, “The children are stable but have been kept under observation for the night.”

Nationwide, about 200 school children were taken to hospitals in Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana and Chhattisgarh as they complained of uneasiness after being administered deworming tablets. “It is normal for some to have such reaction when a large number of children are being administered the tablets,” a doctor in Sonepat said.
