Booking ticket? Book your bedroll, too at Ernakulam Junction
Kochi: Ernakulam Jn is slated to become the fourth station across the country after Thiruvananthapuram Central and Bangalore Jn where e-bedrolls would be made available for passengers.
“We’ve started the supply at Chennai Central and Trivandrum Central. We'll launch the service at Bangalore Jn next week," a senior Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation official said.
“Now we’ve received a request from the Thiruvananthapuram division to start the service at Ernakulam Jn to which we’ve responded positively.”
Passengers with a confirmed ticket for travel from these stations can book the disposable bedrolls through www.irctctourism.com or purchase from designated counters at the stations.
“The passenger can take it home after the journey. The Type 1 bedroll kit consisting of two cotton bedsheets and one pillow would cost '140 while the Type 2 kit with one blanket costs '110. Bedrolls will be available between 6 am and 10 pm,” he said.
Meanwhile, railway minister Suresh Prabhu would inaugurate a vegetarian refreshment room at Ernakulam Town and dedicate the new modern signalling system at Ernakulam Jn through video conferencing from Thiruvananthapuram Central on Friday.
