Warangal: Heavy rains with lightning and a strong wind lashed several parts of the undivided Warangal and Karimnagar districts on Monday. Due to strong winds, the electricity wires were cut in some areas, causing interruption to the power supply.

The skies turned cloudy from the early evening before rain began. The Indian Meteorological Department had warned of heavy rain and has put out a yellow alert.

Crop damage was reported in Jangaon and Narmetta regions of the erstwhile Warangal district. Heavy rains were reported in Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla and Huzurabad constituencies.

Several low-lying areas in the tri-cities Hanamkonda, Warangal and Kazipet as well as in Karimnagar were filled with rainwater.
