Telangana State Haj Committee assistants selection tomorrow

The Haj Committee appoints a Khadim-ul-Hujjaj for every 200 pilgrims.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Haj Committee finalised the process of selection of Khadim-ul-Hujjaj to assist pilgrims in the holy cities after conducting personal interviews of candidates to scrutinise their physical and mental fitness. A panel was also constituted to finalise the selections.

The Haj Committee appoints a Khadim-ul-Hujjaj for every 200 pilgrims.

It was decided to select the applicants through a computerized draw on Saturday in the presence of aspiring pilgrims. Special Officer Prof. S.A. Shukoor was authorised to hold interviews of Haj trainers before forwarding their names to the Haj Committee of India.

The Haj Committee of India has allotted a quota of 4,169 pilgrims for Haj 2019 to Telangana state. The State Haj Committee has received 13,388 applications including 484 from aspirants aged 70 and above who will be selected directly.

The others will be selected through a draw. Home minister Mahmood Ali will formally launch the draw.

The TS Haj Committee, headed by chairman Masihullah Khan, met on Thursday and resolved to conduct orientation programmes for selected pilgrims.

The Telangana State Haj committee decided to refrain from collecting money for food and accommodation provided to pilgrims from AP from the AP Haj Committee, as a gesture of traditional hospitality of Telangana.
