VIJAYAWADA: The YSRC chief, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision to keep away the advisors of the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, has been widening the chasm between the leaders and cadres. A few senior leaders have already conveyed this to Mr Reddy during his padayatra. Mr Somayajulu, who was a key man in YSR’s regime has no place in Mr Reddy’s chambers. Former minister Mr Konatala Ramakrishna, former MP Mr Sabbam Hari and a few other important followers of the YSR have left YSRC, after putting on record that they felt stifled in the current chief's leadership. Meanwhile, the YSRC president wants to review the party functioning after he completes 1,000 kms of the scheduled distance of the padayatra, party sources said. But according to a senior YSRC leader, the YSRC president was well aware of the widening rift within the party and had already made plans of narrowing the gap in a phased and planned manner. He would be adjudicating the party’s progress on a monthly basis, and across five parameters, said another YSRC leader. The parameters include availability of constituency in-charges, issues being faced by the public in each constituency, leaders’ approach towards the public, the building of second rung leadership and identifying right aspirants as per the social statistics of the constituencies.
“Our president is now concentrating on restructuring the party, based on the priority issues of each Assembly segment,” a YSRC MLA explained. The party leadership does not want to take a chance he said and added that a parallel exercise would be organised to restructure the party.
