Hyderabad: TSGenco has requested the municipal administration department to provide a 50 per cent rebate in property tax for industrial buildings and administrative blocks of its power plants.
Genco has a 1,720 MW capacity generation at the KTPS complex at Paloncha in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The power plant and its adjoining housing colo-nies are located in the Paloncha municipality.
The municipal commissioner of Paloncha municipality raised a demand notice for payment of property tax for the industrial buildings and administrative block of the power plant over total dues of Rs 1.55 crore for two years.
In a letter to the muni-cipal department, TS Genco CMD D. Prabha-kar Rao said the municipality was not rendering any civic service such roads and drains, supply of potable water, sweeping of roads and others within the plant premises and residential colonies of KTPS complex.
He requested the commissioner to grant a 50 per cent rebate on payment of property tax for the industrial buildings and administrative block of power plant.
The commissioner turned down the request and issued a revised demand notice for Rs 2.94 crore towards property tax and a penalty of Rs 1,07 crore.
