Tamil Nadu's total electorate stands at 5.86 crore
Chennai: Public election department officials released the revised voters’ rolls for all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. Chennai, Kancheepuram and Coimbatore have more voters than other districts.
Kanyakumari has the most young voters. According to the final revision released by chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni, Tamil Nadu now has a total voter population of 5.86 crore with more women voters.
During the revision, 6,16,741 applications for inclusion of names were received and 5,88,396 applications admitted and names included. On account of shifting, death and duplicate entries 14,91,857 deletions have been made with RK Nagar making to the top of the deletion list. It may be noted that about 49,000 names were deleted during the recent RK Nagar bypoll. For transposition of entries within the Assembly constituency, 66,953 applications were received and 61,410 admitted.
Also, as per the final rolls, Sholinganallur constituency in Kancheepuram district with 6,24,365 electors (male: 3,13,818; female: 3,10,471; third gender: 76) is the constituency with maximum voters. Kanyakumari constituency has the highest electors in the age group of 18-19 with 7,133 electors. On the other hand, the lowest number of electors are from Harbour constituency in Chennai with 1,65,610 electors (male: 86,641; female: 78,921; third gender: 48). As many as 407 overseas electors have also been enrolled during the special revision, the CEO said in a statement.
The electoral rolls are available on the CEO’s website (http://elections. tn.gov.in.). Electors can check their names by visiting the website. The period of continuous updation is in operation now. Eligible persons who do not find their names in the electoral rolls can apply for inclusion, the CEO urged.
