Bar blaze: Kalasipalya inspector suspended

The suspension order stated that the inspector had failed to enforce Excise Act as well as other guidelines.

BENGALURU: After a massive fire broke out in the Kailash bar and restaurant, which killed five workers sleeping inside the bar, city Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar on Wednesday suspended police Inspector R Prakash, attached to the Kalasipalya police station, for dereliction of duty.

The suspension order stated that the inspector had failed to enforce Excise Act as well as other guidelines. He had also failed to ensure that the bar closed at stipulated time on a regular basis.

According to sources there were also allegations that the bar had also served duplicates of well known liquor brands to its customers. Excise officials are looking into the issue and if found guilty the bar licence will be cancelled.

When Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy visited the area, the local residents
had complained that the bar had served liquor even after the closing hours on the fateful day
