Where water is, breed fish', Telangana CM tell officials
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed officials of the fisheries department to fill tanks and other water bodies with fish besides encouraging sheep, goat rearing and milch cattle in the state.
Following the directions, animal husbandry minister T. Srinivas Yadav discussed measures to be taken in this regard with senior officials. “The government took up a massive programme across the state for income generation for farmers. The CM has set the goal. Wherever there is water, we will release fish,” the minister said.
Mr Yadav said the government was keen on developing fisheries in the state so that it becomes self-reliant. “We have to breed quality fish in suitable locations here itself instead of importing it. Set up fisheries societies and involve the fishing community for their development,” he told officials.
The government, Mr Yadav said, would set up two fisheries colleges and one training centre each, and set up mobile medical van, among others.
