Bengaluru: Bharatiya City Developers grabbed land, says BJP leader NR Ramesh
Two workers reportedly died while the construction was in progress.

BENGALURU: Though Bharatiya City Developers Private Limited is creating a township at Nagavara-Thanisandra, by encroaching government kharab land, drains and a village road, the BBMP has failed to initiate any action against the developers and their partners, alleged N.R. Ramesh, BJP city unit spokesperson.
Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the developers have encroached government land worth Rs 250 crore and Robert Vadra, son-in-law of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi, has benami shares in the company.
Two workers reportedly died while the construction was in progress. Of the 10,600 equity shares of the Bharatiya City Developers, 10,000 were owned by Zigma Projects Private Ltd, a benami front of Vadra. That being the case, the violations by the developers have been ignored, he alleged. Bharatiya City has taken up a mega township at Nagavara-Thanisandra road in Byatarayanapura constituency, spread around 106 acres. Of this, 33 acres have been converted for residential purpose while the remaining 72 acres is for industrial purpose.
The Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) cuts through the two units of the township and it is expected to benefit the project, he alleged.
Khatas were issued on the condition that developers must not take up development activity on kharab (government waste) land, it has encroached upon. Nearly 27 guntas of ‘B’ kharab and six guntas of ‘A’ kharab land in ‘A block’ and 1.34 acres of ‘B’ kharab and 10 guntas of ‘A’ kharab land in B block worth '250 crore has been encroached upon by violating the khata condition, he alleged and demanded a high level judicial probe and criminal proceedings against the developers.
In order to evade payment of development fee, the company transferred the ownership from Zigma Land Developers to Bharatiya City Developers. The developer has defaulted a payment of '19.31 crore and have succeeded in getting the khata done in their favour, he added.
Further, he demanded the urban authorities to take up accurate survey of government land and recover the encroached land and initiate criminal case against the BBMP officials who supported the developers to encroach upon the government land, drain and village road, he said.
