Women's empowerment, people's govt: Bhatti hits right notes on Khammam visit

Adilabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao were accorded a grand welcome in Khammam on Sunday, on their first visit since taking oath and implementing the Maha Lakshmi free bus travel scheme for women and persons of the third gender.

Terming the Congress government as a “people’s government,” Bhatti said: “The state government will encourage the services sector while setting up irrigation projects, industries and IT in the state.”

Bhatti said the previous government failed to bring Godavari water to Khammam since it lacked commitment and promised to bring Godavari water to the district by making collective efforts.

He said the previous government created hurdles deliberately in clearing housing sites for journalists despite the court giving its clearance, accusing the BRS of ignoring the issue for 10 years.

Earlier, Bhatti issued free tickets to women at the Old Bus Stand in Khammam, saying they would create wealth and distribute it among the people. “The Congress government fulfilled two guarantees out of six in just two days after coming to power in the state. The remaining will be implemented within 100 days,” he said.

He said that the government would work to empower different sections of society, highlighting that the free bus travel in RTC buses was a move to empower women.

The Deputy Chief Minister and ministers were welcomed to the office by DCC president Puvvada Durgaprasad.

Addressing mediapersons at the Khammam DCC office, Bhatti also highlighted the launch of Rajiv Aarogyasri medical aid of up to Rs10 lakh.

Bhatti said that the implementation of the two guarantees “was a fitting reply” to the BRS leaders who had made a mockery of the Six Guarantees during the election campaign.

Following the visit, Bhatti, Srinivas Reddy and Nageswara Rao visited Bhadrachalam to offer prayers at the Sri Rama temple.
