I.N.D.I.A. Bloc to Meet on Dec. 19, Focus On Unity

The parties intend to move forward with the unity theme - \"Main Nahin, Hum\" (We, Not Me)

New Delhi: I.N.D.I.A. bloc alliance leaders are all set to meet in Delhi on December 19.

The meeting assumes significance as it comes on the heels of an ‘almost hurried’ meeting and dinner called by the Congress of the alliance partners on December 6 immediately after the Congress lost elections in three important states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The ‘unilateral’ calling of the meeting was resented by several allies of the Congress as they had prior commitments.

The same was informed to the Congress leadership. Adding to its list of slogans one of the slogan will be ‘mai nahi hum’ meaning ‘not me but we’.

The other slogan is ‘Jeetega Bharat, Judega Bharat’ meaning ‘India will win and will unite’.

All issues between the alliance partners will be discussed. The last meeting of the alliance partners was held in Mumbai in September this year. In almost three months, no meeting has taken place of the alliance. On December 19, the basic alliance’s thrust will be to announce a common minimum programme.

Several leaders of the bloc’s parties had complained that the Congress is busy in the campaigning for state elections and that's the reason meetings could not take place.

Joint rallies will also be planned. There are several other issues too that will be discussed in the meeting. All the leaders of the alliance parties are expected to attend this meeting.

Meanwhile, the Congress sent out a stern message to the DMK leadership over the utterances of its members.

Though the DMK leadership has castigated its members and advised restraint in their comments, the Congress has conveyed to the DMK that if these utterances keep on going then the party will have to make a public announcement against the DMK.

Many in the Congress also feel that the ‘Sanatana Dharma’ remark made by the DMK members did not go down well in the Hindi heartland states. As for now the matter has been settled between the two alliance partners.
